According to Robert S Weiss, president and chief executive officer of The Coopervision, the contact lens market will increase 3 to 5 percent in year of 2010.
At the end of October 31, Weiss said: 'Our new products are driving our growth, our emerging silicone hydrogel portfolio is delivering for the quarter. We had $40m in silicone hydrogel revenue, up 117 per cent versus the prior year.' Weiss also disclosed that CooperVision's Proclear family of products 'put up some solid numbers at $70m in the quarter', an increase of 14 per cent on the same period last year."

6 steps will minimise risk from trial contact lenses
1 Decontaminated immediately after contact lens with the eye surface
2 Rinsed in Water for Irrigation BP (not tap water) for not less than 30 seconds
3 Cleaned on all surfaces with a liquid soap or detergent, then rinsed in Water for Irrigation BP for a further 30 seconds
4 Immersed in a freshly prepared solution of sodium hypochlorite providing 10,000ppm of available chlorine for 10 minutes
5 Rinsed in three changes of Water for Irrigation BP for a total of not less than 10 minutes
6 Shaken to remove excess water, dried with a disposable tissue, and stored dry in a suitable container.
